It’s easy and free. The first phase of mygrcitypoints.com will allow Grand Rapids residents to earn points based on how much they recycle.
Follow these three easy steps to make mygrcitypoints.com work for you:
- 1 Sign up online for the mygrcitypoints.com program.
- 2 Obtain a FREE blue Single Stream Recycling Program cart, issued by the City.
- 3 Simply take the cart to your curb on collection day and you will automatically receive points based on the amount your route recycles.
Your Cart Number = Points
Each City recycling cart has a Remote Frequency Identification (RFID) chip inserted in the cart. This number permits the City to identify you and automatically credit your account with mygrcitypoints.com every time you recycle.
Future Points Opportunities - Later in 2012
In the future there will be two additional ways residents will be able to earn points:
Community Volunteering
You will also earn points for volunteering for an approved nonprofit organization. For example, a resident may post a project on mygrcitypoints.com to start a block beautification program with flower and tree plantings, and invite neighbors to join in. Everyone who officially volunteers will receive a specific amount of points.
City Volunteering
You will be able to earn points for volunteering at events sanctioned by the City of Grand Rapids (Festival of the Arts, etc.) and organizations (Grand Rapids Public Schools, City of Grand Rapids boards and committees, etc).
