This new program is a collaborative effort between the City of Grand Rapids and Local First. The first phase of the program will encourage City residents to use their single-stream recycling bins for points. Additional phases of this initiative will focus on earning points for volunteering in the community and for the City of Grand Rapids. Points that are earned can be spent to support Local First business members.
The city’s curbside recycling collections have risen 64 percent since last April, compared to previous years, according to data in a report issued today.
